A sustainability resource for Chicago businesses

The Chicago Green Office Challenge is an impact-driven program that encourages friendly competition among commercial offices and individuals to adopt sustainable practices at work and at home. By "playing" the Challenge, participants take concrete action to earn points for their companies and make our city more competitive, livable, and sustainable.

The Challenge aims to drive results in energy, water, and waste reductions in Chicago's business sector, and make Chicago more competitive, livable, and sustainable. The Challenge's new platform leverages three essential components to make that happen:

1. Information

We've assembled tools and information to improve resource efficiency, reduce operating expenses, and avoid greenhouse gas emissions, and the new platform offers an extensive set of data and reporting tools to help you track and report your impact.

2. Structure

We've designed our program around a set of well-defined, pragmatic activities that are within reach of most businesses and organizations.

3. Competition

We've adopted gamefication techniques that are proven to achieve impact:

  • Compare your performance to peers
  • Bid your sustainability projects
  • Earn recognition for your sustainability leadership

All three of these levers are designed to simplify sustainability for Chicago's business community, and help guide participants from insight to action to impact.
